This is of course a moronic lie chautahalpec or however its spelled they were asked to surrender they refused and instead leaped to their deaths the mexicans celebrate a holidy in honor of them. kind of like the moronic japs on Iwo jima in world war 2.Meksikanfude wrote:Well true, depends on the reasons, but usally leads to more tragedy. You know the Battle of the Alamo? A few hundreds Texans fighting off hordes and hordes of Mexian troops. Mexico eventually won, and everybody was like "Remember the Alamo!"
Later, when the Americans were marching into Mexico City, they attacked without warning a poor defended fort. I mean, it was a massacre, hundreds of Mexicans killed.
It's called the "Battle de Chapultepec". What makes it different from the Alamo, was that Capultepec was a Military School with kids from 10 to 16, fighting an army, and they werent given a chance to surrender. They killed them all.
I would argue that Americans dont learn about that in history books, but hey, Mexicans dont learn about the Alamo either, and im sure both stories are exagerated, history is biased anyway.
A quick example, Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor, revenge is reasonable. Later, TWO atomic bombs hit Japan.
I guess that's justified...
I guess this isn't an Anime topic anymore.
War is easily justifiable and anyone who think it is not is living in a deluded fantasy lala land. First off remember that Hate is as much a part of being human as love is. Revenge can never be excessive if somebody breaks in my house their life is forefit even if I go to jail I will make sure they die in horrible pain or are maimed for life. Skanks, america was not blockading japan we were in a group of countries including the dutch that simply refused to sell them oil until they left china which they had no intention of doing. Instead after bombing pearl harbor they immediatley went for the dutch indies where most of their Oil came from. When the dutch set fire to the oil wells the invading Japanese raped tortured and burned their wives in front of the oil workers then killed them. Trying to justify the japs reasons for entering world war 2 is pointless they were led by madmen just like the Germans and they preached the same ludicrous idea of Racial supremecy.
Purity is wackable!

god, i sound like a hippy don't I?
War these days is pointless.
The point of war is to kill your enemies.
Unless you wipe out the lot, they will keep comming back. How many time have we had this war with Iraq already?
I didn't say anything was justified, people enter war for power or hate.
I know being American you think your shit doesn't stink but believe me America gained alot out of WW2 so it wasn't a holy cause or anything otherwise they would of jumped in the second Hitler started everything.
You can have a cry about who pushed who first but the fact remains it happened. People died, Japan and Hitler lost. Which is good because Japan was kinda going to take over Australia just before things turned around.
I did study History so I know all about what the Japs did some of which made the Germans look like Ronald Macdonald. I recall they were never held accountable because they never signed any human rights treaties or something along those lines.
As for Vengance, well, its human yes and if someone were to hurt my family I would do some pretty discusting things in my rage, however, it's not something i would brag about or pretend was justified.
I already have 2 people on that list though for what they did i will never forgive, but they are far, far away so thats why i'm not in Jail.

As do I, as do I. Given...the point they were trying to prove wasn't ending the war like most people think. The entire reason for dropping the atomic bomb was to show the Russians/Communism that we had it (pre-emptive). Not at all be insulting, but most educated people know this.Meksikanfude wrote:I think they proved their point with one atomic bomb....
Regardless, *IF* you believe it was used to end the war, two is excessive. I can go on and on about this since I did a mock "trial" in US history about it. I was a prosecutor...either way I don't really wanna go into it...y'all got plenty to discuss anyway

Now I'm 99% sure you didn't mean it this way, but the term "japs" is a racial slur. I'd suggest being a bit more careful. Again, I'm fairly sure you were just shortening "japanese" since it's a lot shorter.Mroni wrote: kind of like the moronic japs on Iwo jima in world war 2.
You were wondering about "racist" earlier in the thread...I guess it's this sort of "tone" you are conveying. I'm fairly sure you don't mean to be, but please be more careful.

Nipponese? You sure about that? Nippon is the country and adding "ese" isn't really...hmm...well I guess the question I have is if this was term they wanted foreigners to use or among themselves? If it was among themselves I am 99.9% sure they called themselves Nihonjin (japan+people).kthulhu wrote:I prefer the term Nipponese, myself. Although I'm not Japanese or Asian.
Supposedly the Japanese prefered Nipponese, too, since it's the native term, instead of the Western Japan.
