Here are some examples that make folds easy. Would've canned my own work, but didn't want to bother.

As you can tell by my choice of pics, Spawn's cape is an excellent way to study folds in art and makes for a good example as to what yours should resemble. Of course, do as you wish: it IS YOUR ART, but this may be of some help if you wish to use it.

I'm sure Chaos know how folds should look, heh.
And actually, Spawn's folds aren't too great. They just look like lightning and razors.

Wow, Crackpot. I think those spawn pics just ignited my inferiority complex. Danke.
j/k.
SSVegita, the thing about my general drawing style is that it is very, VERY animation influenced, although lately there's a little Megatokyo and SpPanda influence in there as well (I usually don't shade, that's why I'm so glad the shading came out so well on the first pic).
Quick history: I've been drawing and doodling ever since I was a little kid (my primary memories from 4th grade are of doodling whilst I sat in the back of the classroom), but it wasn't until roughly freshmen year of high school that I began to seek to improve my style. Motivated by Gargoyles, I began tracing off of the screen (not easy with opaque printer paper), pausing the tapes and drawing what I saw, etc. I've taken a few art classes here and there, which helped, but much of my stylistic influence is still from general animation-style drawing. Over time, my style has gradually smoothed out and I've gotten to the point where I don't fuck up proportions and such, and they actually look like they could be real animated characters, but I can still stand some improvement (as in my clothing folds, and the shoes. I am HORRIBLE at shoes!!).
So, yeah. It's basic, and not very "artistic", but seeing as so much of my drawing influence is animation and (to a lesser extent) comics, I'm pleased with it stylistically speaking.
Now, as for the folds, welp, I think Spawn's cape is a tad too jagged and surreal for my liking as far as drawing normal clothing is concerned, but thanks all the same. ^_^
I decided to work on my clothing folds after seeing two things, though. One was Trigun, the way Vash's coat bunches up around his waist got me thinking about how on my own drawings, the clothes usually just hang their straight, instead of bunching up.
The other thing that got me wanting to work on folds were the two FLCL OST covers.

Mostly Haruko.
Speaking of Haruko... I just like this picture.

I love the hand. It's so exaggerated.

I suck at drawing. All I need to keep myself going is to look back at my old work (First a-m-v.org GFX contest entry) and provided I didn't already flush it, realize how many balls I sucked at one time.
I'm getting better by looking at my mistakes. I think that's the best way to learn. That picture is almost definatly better than your previous work, (Hint hint, your comic about the fastest suicide method) and I definatly thought the first picture was better than the second.
I wonder where the general art thread went, of if that was just for SPPanda?
