Meh. if he wants to be homersexual... its his choice.
The homersexuality thing doesn't bother me, its the fact that he decided hew as gay after i convinced him Ikari was gay..
Almost as if it was the reason.
One - Otaku is not a gender term. The otaku were a fanatical cult who went so far as killing people in Japan (I believe they released poisionous gas on a subway). It was a mean insult to call an anime fan an otaku, but now the anime fans have taken the name otaku for themselves, taking power away from the insult. Otaku can be male or female.

Two - Shinji Ikari is not gay. Shinji is withdrawn and emotionally injured and I know that he has characteristics in his personality that would make him a figure that would attract the homosexual community, but Shinji himself happens to not be gay. (and anyone who replies to this by saying "of course he's not, he's a drawing", can save themselves the trouble. That's just a jackass comment)

Three - There have been many instances of people realizing their homosexuality because of a character from TV, the movies or other forms of media. I know there were many homosexual men who began to realize their homosexuality after watching Robin from Batman and Robin (which the actor from the Adam West Batman mentioned in an interview... about how he had become an icon for the homosexual community). In the movie "Crumb" it is revealed that one the Crumb brothers found his homosexual identity from Disney's Treasure Island (the old live action one). If this person you know has discovered something about himself and discovers a homosexual identity because of a show... it's nothing new.

Just some thoughts.

There are two kinds of people in this world:
Those who divide people into two kinds of groups
and those who don't.
