[Neon Genesis Evangelion] - Rammstein - Engel by (Unknown)
Best part ever.

:P

I used to live in San Antonio also. They'd always be showing random anime stuff on Channel 20 late at night. Caught some uncensored hentai one time. I was like o_O.

Depends on if he lies about getting permission from the creators to use it or not.

If the cable co that grants him access figures it out, or gets a cease & desist letter from any anime or music company, the plug will be instantly pulled.

I'd suggest those of you who got that email, or see your video on the playlist, save both your email if you still have it, and maybe go save a copy of those web pages, in case you need that to help you prove that you had nothing to do with these being broadcast, and never explicitly gave permission to have them used.

I'm not a lawyer, but that's what I'd do.

I'd think the music industry might be more inclined to get upset than any anime company.

Anime companies certainly get really pissed at fansubbers who release titles they've licensed, but with amv's, there's that conflict between wanting to protect their rights, and knowing that amv's often serve as free promotional material for anime they may have the rights to. Some of the employees there are anime and amv fans, too. (at least that's what I've gathered from the few quick, informal conversations I've had with people at cons)

I think the carrot/donut will be a test for this, as it sets this place up as a something of a target, once vids are actually being distro'd.

I'm very interested to see what happens.

yes, but wuth AMV's you are both ripping of hte peopel who made the anime, and the people that made the song, so thats 3 or 4 differnt groups of people right there that can sue your ass off.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

I don't think that the Anime producers think that AMV are stealing them...As said earlier it's a free way of advertising for them.

Sorry, this thread seems to turn to a "are AMV legal" discussion.
Forget what I just said, go on with the original topic

I say this is going to blow up in someone's face. Just make sure it isn't yours.

I don't know... If people would be enough open minded and not thinking just the money, this could be a good thing. If the material is paid once, then i see no reason to people to get upset about this. Come on, it's not like AMV is a new thing, they got to know about that it exists. So why haven't there been any reactions to it yet? Is everyone just waiting to someone to take the first step to right or wrong way?
