There just making sure in the chance that legal action is taken against them because of your vid they can shift the blame onto you. So you don't really have to clear them, but in the small chance something does happen... It in other words is up to you.

What i get from readin both of those it seems they could use my Vid for promiontional purposes..therforth I'd need permission correct?
Not really. Thing is that they like to show old AMVs in between shows in the video rooms and I've seen them once use Caffine Encorium for a TV ad. So really they are saying that it becomes THEIR property afterwords so they can do what they want with it. Most cons say that it's their property once you submit the video. You still need not get permission yourself. All you have to do is make the video and send it to them.
