About "My Neighbor Totoro" and other Studio Ghibli

Post by LittleKefalos » Sun Feb 23, 2003 4:19 pm

I know this question was probably asked before, but does anyone have any heads up on if "My Neihbor Totoro is going to be released on DVD in the right way, i.e. both English and Japanese language tracks (is the fact that its owned by Fox going to cause problems in this)?

Is Disney ever going to release the Studio Ghibli films?

If the answer to this is no I think our only hope is that Spirited Away wins best animation at the Oscars, and it gets rereleased in the theatres and becomes a smash hit, making everything else Miyazaki has touched turn to gold. alas, we have to hope and pray I guess.

Oh and thanks for any answers.

Spirited Away, Laputa (Castle in the Sky), and Kiki's Delivery Service have already been announced for DVD on 4/15.

(2 disc sets. I can't find the disc art I had a link to before)

According to nausicaa.net, Disney has the global distribution rights to Totoro, but Fox's rights only run out in 2004.

Thank you for your intelligence and promptness, it should be praised throughout the land.

I'm also really happy, although having to wait until 2004, oh well. :D

Although I already knew this (it was announced in the Boston Globe), I have to once again give many huzzahs to DokiDoki who is cool in all ways!

YAY DOKIDOKI!
