I don't know where your hearing this at.... But no. It simply can't be done. This is why they make a DVD Writer, and a CD Writer. It's all in the hardware.

Most of these packages are just Freeware, ripping and conversion tools with poorly written instructions on how to convert your MPEG2 DVD to a MPEG4 AVI, that will only work on your computer.
>_> There are none that can do it , since DVDs cane be up to 9GB & standard CDRs only go up to 700MB. I don't see how a CDR drive could e even hope to write a DVD

Right, but most of these programs suggest that they can copy ANY DVD.el_farlo wrote:actually dvds hold 4.7 gbs, double density dvds(x-box, ps2 games) hold 9 gbs
Which, even with the software that does "work", like DVDXCopy(Which REQUIRES a DVD-R drive). You can't make a dual-layer disc with any burner out there at the moment. Consumers are limited to 4.7GB per side

give me a chain saw, tin foil, a precision crystal, and some milk of magnesia and I'll forge a dual layer dvd
oh yeah, the programs are crap. Most of them either use freeware like klinky said or their own crappy encoders to encode to VCD or something similar. Theyre LOSER programs, learn to encode yourself :\ its the only way to get the job done
