Go purchase the Mecha Masters Box Set from Best Buys. I think it's about 60 or 50 dollars there. Includes M.D. Geist I & II Collector’s Series, Cybernetics Guardian, Genocyber: The Collection, M.D. Geist and Genocyber I Soundtracks and bonus disc in an ultra cool collector's box. They aren't too long by themselves, but put together it's a pretty good length. And they can be pretty gory at times.
If you don't mind watching something that's old, try to get ahold of Guyver. That's the classic cybernetic tear an army of mutants in half anime.
Soul Taker is a really dark and disturbing series, that has some similarities with Genocyber. Although it's not really robot related, it bears similiarities to it. Soul Taker has a hissatsu (one-hit-kill, or final blow) attack that's similar to the kind you'd expect to see in a Super Robot Anime. And there are several enemies that are robot-like. I remember there's one that's a giant Samurai statue that can fire it's fists. And in another, there's a hearse-like vehicle that transforms into a humanoid robot-thing. There's so many bullets fired in that particular episode it will make you lose track after a while.

Oh Lord... my opinion? Don't waste your money on that Mecha Masters box set. Those shows are crap.
Reviews I trust:
MD Geist
Cybernetics Guardian
I don't have one for Genocyber, but if the reviews for the other two don't scare you off...
Guyver is a better choice, but it's more biomechanics as opposed to true mecha or cybernetics.
You also can't go wrong with Ghost in the Shell, especially if you can get ahold of the new TV series.
Another decent series is Blue Gender, but at times it's a little light on the mecha, but it is pretty dark in tone.

My Opinion?!
My Opinion?! Well, I'd say that the Gundam Series are one of the best robot (Mecha) show and game that there is today (not to mention Robotech as well). They also have model kits, action figures, and a whole lot of other things (lol). There's also Zoids, which has almost the same things as the Gundam series. If you wait long enough, there'll be a new Gundam series called Gundam SEED. Laterzzz!

Gundam Seeds is ok, nothing really special. They really cant develop new and original storylines anymore for the gundam series although Turn a Gundam is very different in a sense and pretty enjoyable, *thinks to self, maybe a should finally do a turn a gundam AMV*

We'll I'll say Dual and Amazing nurse Nanako. Both are funny but have serious plots underlying them. Neither are that long though. If you want length im sorry but your only bets are gundam and robotech and once you get past the macross part of Robotech it completley bites.
