Hot chicks driving classic cars in reckless yet skillful ways. That's my first-glance pitch.

It's been awhile and now I'm back with this review. That and Hitori suggested it to me and BAM, I loved it for some reason...

eX-Driver? what is it?

Well, first off, the assertive "true" fans who take notice of simple things may catch right off the bad ass up the thighs dvd art covers. ^_^ The original character design, story, and planning was done by Kousuke Fujishima. If you don't know him, stop watching all your DBZ and watch a REAL anime. [Oh My Goddess *cough] You're Under Arrest also comes to mind. Fujishima is da man... 8)

What's the story about? Imagine, in the future, NOBODY can drive? [AH, THE TERROR!] Instead, the city [or maybe the world] is governed by a computer gps satellite system that guides ALL the cars around automatically. Nobody owns they're own cars either. [reminds me of communism in a sense] All you do is step up to the neighborhood garage, ask for the car model you want [which is pointless since you can't drive it anyway] and the garage robotics sends you one. The car then asks you where you want to go and poof, you're there. The car's cpu does all the guiding and the sensors [headlight looking thingies] on the front and rear give the car all the info to "drive safely". Yes people, no passing, none of your favorite "hand signals", no racing, no nothing. The car is driving YOU! But... [drumroll] the cpus which seem to be made by Microsoft  are buggy and sometimes go haywire. [imagine you're careening outta control while your cpu says "have a safe trip" like 20 times. ^_^ That's where the eX-Drivers come in. These are the VERY RARE and talented people who still know how to drive gasoline engines. [auto trans are for wusses, all the eX-Drivers use MANUAL baby ^_^] AND DAMN! I'M RUNNING out of time, I'll continue this review when I get back home...

FOOK!

but it horribley sucks :O

Isn't that a good reason to give it a BAD review.

Bland characters and super DORK kid who gets to "sex0r" all the babes.

Telling all the dorky jap children that they can go and have hot sex0rz with the hot girlz is a flat out lie :O

and that kid is a stupid head and he sucks and the idea that they are jus high schooler who are rebels and know how to drive and stupid family people don't know how to drive and the whole concept is stupid.

Just stupid...

>_<

Argh god it's a stupid anime....

And why troubleshooting drivers would want to risk classic cars like a Lotus Elise and Lancia Stratos is totally beyond me. At least put nerf bars on 'em if you're going fender-to-fender with a rogue car!

It really sounds like little more than an excuse to put hot chicks and hot cars on the screen at the same time. Enh.

I've only seen the ex-Driver movie. I like it, but for none of the above listed reasons. I like it because it has an underlying theme of family togetherness. Granted, that's likely a more prevalent theme in racing Anime, than say in mecha anime as Zone of Enders, Dolores i displays but it's still original to me, who has usually only seen family togetherness animes likes Ranma 1/2, and KOR. Somewhat similar to Z.O.E.D.i the family togetherness has some mafia overtures. Which I think compounds the originality. I haven't seen too many animes featuring mafia. (Perhaps the anime creators have been playing Grand Theft Auto or some other mafia-related current video game?) And klinky doesn't have to worry about the
Bland characters and super DORK kid who gets to "sex0r" all the babes.
*semi-spoiler coming up*

Since the movie introduces a few more interesting characters, and the dorky kid only gets paired up with one young girl that is about his same age.

I should also clarify that a little bit. These anime show the power of American families sticking together. In America, there are a lot of broken families. Lots of American music artists sing about family brokeness, so it seems very apparent that broken families are a problem in this country. The message that these animes seem to be sending out to American viewers, I feel is very positive and a good moral thing.
