web hosting recommendations

can anyone recommend a web hosting service, or not recommend one? like tripod, geocities, etc.

looking to set up an account, but don't know which one to pick

If your looking for a hosting server for just a website I would recommend brinkster. If your looking for a free web host for hosting videos, give up. Not only is there no such thing as a good, free web hosting service for videos but most sites don't allow such content. I can give you come friendly advice:

1. Wait for Golden Donut (Im not too sure about this project but some are so maybe it might be worth it).

2. Find a web hosting service that A. Doesn't mind copyrighted material B. Has high bandwidth allowance (not unlimited, do not fall for the word unlimited). You will have to pay an annual or quaterly cost for this service but it can get the word out.

3. Set up an FTP on your computer. This is a good idea if you have broadband but a BAD idea if you have dial up.

I also meant to add:

Do not expect to get a free ride, there is no such thing. Creating AMVs is an expensive and thankless hobby, dont create and display amvs thinking that you become famous or well known. I create amvs for fun and to challenge myself, not to get recognized. Well anyways good luck.

but i have no clue where to host larger files for a affordable price.

so would something like tripod or angelfire be suitable for videos that are copyrighted?

probably not...isnt' there a limittd bandwith useage there....

anyway....i answered this question in your thread you put up in the general amv forum...

multiple threads of the same thing aren't really looked favorably upon..
