we have already tryed that many times already and no one seems to be interested in it. lol isnt that right Garylisk? ^_^
Hey, I would be very interested in an AMV only channel  I would go and get all my AMV's and share them on top of my own. A DC channel for AMV's would be great.

Heh damn right.

Cat: We tried, man... Nobody seemed interested because they were lke "I don't like P2P" or "I only use WinMX because I'm an elitist bastard who likes WinMX's congested-ass network!"

Yeah, you get the idea. *barf*

Still a little confused.

So we just download a file anywhere on the Internet and it automatically connects you to other people who are trying to download the same exact thing??

BitTorrent might have some uses here, just not general distro of most AMVs.

It might work for stuff like new releases of con documentaries, disc images of collaborative projects (DDR, NES project, Short AMV project, etc), releases of winning vids from AMV contests, stuff like that, where lots of people want the same thing at the same time.

I need to learn ore about setting up a torrent, and not just participating by downloading, but my initial investigations seem to indicate that one person with a pretty decent DSL upload and a few dedicated friends can initiate a torrent that can distro hundreds of copies of something in a day, if the downloaders play nice.

As soon as you have downloaded a certain size chunk of the file, it starts uploading that chunk to other downloaders who need it, and just serves out its bits and pieces as needed, as long as you don't close the window, even after your download completes.

It might be worth testing, using a popular vid that people always want, like Engel, Tainted Donuts, Okidoruu, or something like that.

any interest?

Well, whether the guys here like it or not, it's already in use. I'll be conducting more tests in the future, so get ready to see your next AMV downloaded using this method...

I downloaded it, but how do I let others see my files? There's a list that I can download from, but I'm not sure how I put my files on the list/let others search for them. Oh yeah, while I'm at it, my ISP forbids IRC and FTP servers, but is there anyway I can create a link on my website for someone to download a file directly from my HD?
There's a fine line between genius insanity...and I've crossed it 67 times.
