Rider, I just wanted to note how much I enjoyed your video despite knowing very little about One Piece. Cyanna told me that, as a huge Elton John fan (and also a fan of El Dorado), she was grinning like an idiot the entire time. That guy is just too perfect.

Well, now we know better for next year. A good problem to have, of course -- I sure wish we could attract that many people for the awards at AnimeNEXT.

Thanks :) That video only consists of maybe the first 20 minutes of the movie. Right as it started first time I watched I immediately had El Dorado come to my head. "Oh this is just too perfect" :ying:

Additional reactions:

I'm really glad to see Utena still getting so much AMV love 20 years later.
Romance/Sentimental was STAAAAACKED. I really did not know whom to vote for.
I'm still struck by the idea that "Let's Dance to Joy Division" is a cool concept for a song.
Comedy seemed pretty twisted this year. Friday's audience sounded like they dug it though.
I'm not sure just what I expected from "Cracking Open the Cold One with the Boys", but I'm pretty sure it wasn't that.
I didn't realize until afterwards that the categories on the ballot were "Trailer" and "Comedy/Parody", not "Trailer/Parody" and "Comedy" like they should have been (and apparently were on the trophies?). Can't remember if this is consistent with previous years.
Anyone know what the record is for number of times finalist at Otakon? :P

Congrats to all the winners, and thanks to Vic and the whole team for putting it all on!

Most important take-away from Otakon: Scintilla has a beautiful singing voice. The AMV sing-along MVP

I guess I'll take that compliment on behalf of The Wombats. ;9

Not only was this likely a tough category to decide a winner in, but the results for it (with the two KyoAni videos finishing in first and second) were a huge surprise, as I thought for sure that the audience was going to go for the Utena/Steven Universe video.
Comedy seemed pretty twisted this year. Friday's audience sounded like they dug it though.
Checking out the comedy videos on both days, I felt that the Saturday audience dug it more, as some videos (i.e. my entry, the JoJo video) got more laughs in that screening on Friday.
I'm not sure just what I expected from "Cracking Open the Cold One with the Boys", but I'm pretty sure it wasn't that.
Oh yeah, that was definitely this year's "miscategorized" video of the Contest, with it creator actually entering it in Upbeat rather than the Comedy category that it ended up in.
