Useful video for editors! (I am sure)

Post by Jedinovice » Fri Apr 08, 2016 3:53 am

I keep getting confusion when I say I create AMV's.

I am sure others have the same problem. So I explain here:

I sure this video will be of help to people here. :D

Is this really a problem you have? Do people actually ask if you animate your source footage for AMVs?

...That said, I have personally drawn portions of some of my AMVs. I think a lot of editors have experience with that. However, aside from a few editors (Zarxrax!) I could name, most of us don't do our own total animation.

As an aside, the downside to having Japanese as my daily language, but English as my mother tongue: I often disagree with other people's translations/subtitling, and I didn't like the word choices used sometimes in the above.

Any possibility of you showing an example of your self drawn work for an amv? :D

Yes. Indeed, it's an FAQ!

And I can't draw for toffee. Or play music.

I can write, mind... but then I would need a production company to make my stuff... which ain't gonna happen! :(

Still... on the bright side.. now being a private teacher for after class school; although I suffer long and anti-social hours, after I have taught students a certain amount, they have to do the work and I get to do what I like as long as I am present and available to the student. Often that involves anime with the sound off. So a large part of my job is watching anime!

[Just to reassure people, my student's improvement is usually dramatic, so I am not letting them down. Indeed, I am almost certainly not going to be renewing my contract with my current school, but setting up my own school with my wife... largely due to student and parental encouragement! This will also enable me to start up the Anime Club I so desperately want running! Depends on a number of factors, mind, but looking good as a plan so far.]

I support this video, that's all I'll say about it.

I'll take this as...
