Submission Guidelines and Rules for Anime Conji 2016 AMV Contest

Even though Anime Conji's convention has been canceled this year, the AMV contest WILL still take place, and it's venue will be none other than Anime Expo 2016! This does not mean that AX's contest and Conji's contest will be combined. They will be two separate events. While AX's competition will take place in Main Events, Anime Conji's will be held in the AMV room, both at separate times.

Submission Deadline is April 1st 2016, 11:59pm (PST).

Legal Disclaimers
Spoiler :
For the sake of the entire “Submission Guidelines and Rules” document, the terms “we”, “our” and “us” refer to the SPJA, Anime Conji, its subsidiaries, affiliates, associates, staff, and volunteers. Contestants waive all rights to any fees, copyrights, royalties, or any forms of compensation for the use of their name, likeness and videos in publicity, marketing, and public viewing by Anime Conji.

Contestants may enter up to three (3) videos, but only one (1) per category. We reserve the right to move your entry to another category if we feel it’s better suited elsewhere. If we decide to move your entry to another category already containing one of your entries only one may be permitted to advance to the finals. (Participants may or may not be notified of the change before the reveal of finalists.)

We will try to work with you if you have questions or concerns about file types, or if we have trouble working with your entry.

Requirements:
Your video(s) must meet the following criteria:
1) Good quality. Videos found to be poorly encoded, such as containing artifacts, interlacing or red-lining audio are not permitted.
2) Keep it PG-13. Poor taste, excessive violence, explicit sexual content/innuendo, and/or strong language are not acceptable.

4) Video length must be between 30 seconds and 6 minutes.
5) Must contain at least 51% OFFICIAL anime, manga, or Japanese video game footage.
6) No bumpers, credits, *watermarks or title screens. All videos will be given uniform identifying slides. Any credits incorporated into the video itself for artistic purposes are permitted at the discretion of the coordinator.
7) Any trailers entered MUST NOT contain proper titles or authorities in their opening green screen. If the MPAA did not view your trailer, then you may NOT use their name. Parody versions with mock companies are permitted.

*Watermarks are constant symbols, typically small in the corner of the screen. They suggest you obtained/downloaded your footage illegally, and are not tolerated.

Not adhering to one or more of these rules will result in the disqualification of your entry.

“Inexcusable” Rules
1) Dishonorable Participation (Penalty variable based on severity) Participants who engage in a manner that causes grief, harm, or dishonor to others or to the event may be reprimanded. This includes intentional rule violations and unsportsmanlike behavior.

3) Plagiarism (Penalty of banishment from all SPJA conventions.)
Do not submit someone else’s AMV as if it were your own. Do not use parts of someone else’s AMV or submit an “improved” version of someone else’s AMV unless you have the original creator’s explicit permission to do so. Each person involved in a submission’s creation must be identified on the entry form and must explicitly grant permission to participate in this event.

Judging and Winners:
Due to Conji being on hiatus this year, Anime Expo has graciously agreed to host our contest and will be played in the AMV room at some point during the colossal convention.
All entrants will be prescreened blindly and judged prior to the convention. The overall favorite video will be awarded “Judges’ Choice”. The coordinator will choose her favorite at some point before the contest. This video will be awarded “Coordinator’s Choice”. Audience members will be given a voting ballot for the contest and choose their favorite video for each category. The most popular video of each category will be awarded Best in its Category. At the end of the show, audience members will be asked to select three videos out of the entire show to be voted as their overall favorite. The one video with the most votes will be awarded “Audience Choice”. Winners will be announced later during the convention at a to-be-determined time and place.

SUBMIT YOUR VIDEOS: HERE

It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to submit your AMV early, especially if your AMV content or format is questionable. Creators whose videos meet any of the disqualification criteria will be notified and updated. Videos may be resubmitted for consideration as long as it’s received before the deadline. It is also HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to respond and read your e-mails frequently during the contest submission period for updates, information and confirmations.

If you have any questions about the contest or submitting your video, please contact us at amv@anime-conji.org.

Remember, DEADLINE IS APRIL 1st 2016.

Submission Guidelines for Anime Conji 2016 Animation Xhibition

Many AMV editors enjoy editing with more animation than just anime, but rarely get a chance to showcase their work in front of a crowd. While Anime Conji is an anime-based convention, we also understand that the fandom of anime often branches out to all sorts of genres like Avatar, Marvel, My Little Pony, etc... Last year, we attempted an exhibition that features fan-made music videos consisting of animation produced outside Japan, and it was VERY successful so we are bringing it back!

The videos in the Xhibition will be played in between categories as sort of a palette cleanser to give the audience a break from voting.

This is NOT a competition. You may enter as many as you like, however that does not guarantee all will be played. We want to include as many different editors as possible in our limited time frame.

There is NO “freshness” rule for this exhibition.

There are NO categories for this exhibition.

REQUIREMENTS are the same as the contest - EXCEPT for the footage requirement. Your video must contain at least 51% NON-Japanese animation.

SUBMIT YOUR VIDEOS: HERE

Submission Deadline is 11:59pm(PST) Apr 8, 2016 (one week after contest deadline). If you need an extension for this exhibition, please let us know and we will try to work with you.

If you have any questions about the contest or submitting your video, please contact us at amv@anime-conji.org.

Good luck!

Re: Anime Conji 2016 Rules - HAITUS...

Post by Rider4Z » Fri Dec 18, 2015 4:07 pm

Hey everybody!

So I have some news regarding Anime Conji 2016, if you have already entered then you should have received an email about it. The powers that be have decided to cancel the convention for 2016 and bring it back 2017. Now what does this mean for the contest? Well, the powers that be would like to still honor the contest in some way. How, we haven't figured that part out yet.

In other words, the convention has been canceled this year but the AMV CONTEST has not! In the next few days we are going to discuss logistics on how to make it work without a home base. Submissions are currently on hiatus but will open again. I am keeping all entries received so far, you will not have to start over. I am sad the convention has been postponed, but I am happy to see I can keep the AMV Contest going regardless.

I will let you all know when submissions are open again and what our ultimate decision is on where we go with the contest.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!
Rider4Z~

Good news!~ So we may have solved our venue problem, but opening back up submissions may take a little time it being Christmas week and all. Also, due to the nature of our venue change the deadline will likely be pushed (back? forward?)... it'll be later/ further in the future, in other words you'll have more time!

I'll give out more details once they're finalized, but likely not until after the holidays. So everyone enjoy your break! :jester:
