NEKOCON AMV CONTEST RULES!!!!

DEADLINE FOR THE CONTEST IS OCTOBER 24, 2015 11:59pm EST

Submission Form

You must include a separate form for each AMV that you submit.
The form should be nothing more then a normal .txt file that contains the following information:

- Title of AMV
- Full legal name
- Nickname, if applicable
- Mailing address
- Telephone number (including area code) - It is not necessary however if we need to get a hold of you immediately about your video this could be the quickest way of getting an issue resolved.
- Email address
- Song title(s), artist(s), and recording label(s)
- Name of source video footage
- Name of category you are submitting to

You must include ALL of that information before your video will be considered for the contest. If you are unsure about any of the information please look it up, as it is all crucial information.

To make things easier, we would prefer that you use the naming convention of “Editor’s name – AMV title” to name both your AMV and submission form so that we can make sure to keep them together.
(i.e. “John Smith – My AMV.avi” and “John Smith – My AMV.txt”).

And we'll be back after these Messages - Basically this is our commercial category. Submit your AMV Commercial that you think would make a good advertisment for a product or for a TV Show commercial. Anything you would see on TV when it would go to break, just make sure it is con appropriate.

If you are not sure what category your video falls under select the one you think fits it best. We will contact you if we think that your video may be better suited for another one. You do have the choice of saying no I want to compete in this category as you are the editor. We will not make any changes without your permission.

Submission Format

All submissions must meet the following standards:

- 640x480 resolution minimum
- 23.97 frames per second or 29.97 frames per second (or whatever else may be the standard today.)
- Non-Interlaced video (Progressive)
-Please have high quality audio. If it doesn’t sound like it came from a CD or high quality from itunes then we are not going to accept it. Remember these videos will be played louder than what you would normally play them at home.

SUBMITTING ENTRIES ONLINE ONLY!!!!

Upload entries online via file share site. PLEASE USE DROPBOX, GOOGLE DRIVE, SENDSPACE or MEGA. Please do not use any obsecure sites. ALSO ANIMEMUSICVIDEOS.ORG LINKS WITHOUT CREDITS IN YOUR VIDEO WILL BE ALLOWED.

PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT YOUTUBE LINKS FOR ENTRIES.

Any of the following encoding formats may be used, provided that they meet the above standards:

Video:
- MPEG 1 or 2
- HuffYUV avi
- Uncompressed avi
- Divx avi
- Xvid avi
- MP4
- Basically any readable format for VLC Player or Windows Media Player Classic

-If you don’t have one of these formats I can probably convert it. Just make sure it is high quality as these videos are going to be displayed on an extremely large screen

Audio:
- Uncompressed wav (PCM)
- MPEG audio (mp3, mp2, etc.)

Rules

THIS IS A PG-13 Contest....

1) All entries *MUST* conform to the formats listed above.

2) A maximum of three submissions per person, one per category is allowed.

2a) VIDEOS SHOULD HAVE A FRESHNESS DATE OF NOVEMBER 1st 2014. Any videos made before that day will be disqualified.

2b) ANTI-TROLLING RULE - I know there are a lot of contests out there so with that being said if your AMV has won 5 or more awards at the time of the submission it will be disqualified and entered as a non-competing video. We will contact you and ask if you have another video you would like to submit.

3) Entries must be at least 30 seconds and not exceed 5:30 minutes running time in length.

4) Entries must be at least 75% anime, japanese game footage, or live action from an anime. Manga Music Videos are allowed (Since people have been asking, and did not realize this was not in the rules.)

5) The following excessive materials are not allowed: nudity, violence, racial or verbal obscenities.

6) Dubbed sound from licensed commercial translation is NOT allowed. Please keep audio from the original animation to a minimum, remember this is a music video contest.

6a) Titles of Anime Shows or Credits from Anime Shows will not be allowed. The Titles will not be allowed due to the new fan art policy a company has pushed out, but still is allowing the use of the characters / shows for the artist. If you want further information please email me and I'll send you the link to the article.

7) Subtitles will only be allowed if you put them in there yourself. If we think that the subtitles are from a fansub we will disqualify your video.

8) All entries must be accompanied by a completely filled out submission form. (see above) PLEASE ATTACHED THE SUBMISSION FORM IN A TEXT OR WORD DOCUMENT.

9) WE ARE ONLY DOING ONLINE SUBMISSIONS : PLEASE EMAIL YOUR SUBMISSIONS TO genestarwind21122@yahoo.com

10) Only the best quality submissions will be eligible to compete. Submissions with significant audio or visual degradation will not be accepted.

11) Prizes will be presented at some point during the convention. Certificates and giftcards will be mailed out to editors if they are not able to attend. If outside the US you may be required to pay for shipping. All prizes not claimed by December 7th,2015 will become property of the convention.

12) Copies of the contest will not be available due to legal concerns.

13) Nekocon is not responsible for lost, stolen, misdirected, or damaged entries, prizes, etc.

14) We reserve the right to reject any video for any reason at any time. Although unlikely, rules are subject to change. If any major changes are necessary to your video, we will attempt to contact you.

15) This is a given anybody on the AMV Staff can not submit to this contest but still can have their videos shown as non-competing entries. Other staffers will be permitted to enter the contest as the judging for these videos will be done blindly. Nobody watching the videos will have any knowledge of who made them. (That is unless the video is already online and they happened to see it before the screening.)

Yes a commercial won our Best in Show this year!

I want to thank all the editors that submitted to the contest this year. We will be keeping the commercials and adding in one new mystery category next year. I can say that the deadline will be around September 15th. We will open submission up sometime after Katsucon.

We are aiming to do even more with AMV's at Nekocon. I'm hoping to get Main Events next year as we capped panel room 1 twice with 300 + attendees. I'll fight for you guys and see what we can do to make next years show even better. We got a lot of feedback from the audience. So keep up the excellent work the audience really enjoyed the show this year.

Prizes will be shipped out by a Nekocon member that's in charge of mailing stuff out.

XD I mean, it's expired, but it doesn't matter; I'll find a use for it at Best Buy down the road sometime). Thanks for sending it. I appreciate the fact that you stuck to the commitment of getting these out. Even if it's a little late, it's certainly better than not at all. I want to apologize to any of the editors I called about shipping their prizes. I was calling to verify the addresses and to offer a personal apology for taking so long. As a contest coordinator I wanted to make sure the prizes got to go where they needed to. Sorry if I spoke too much about my depression at the time I was going through, however I just felt really bad not getting the prizes shipped right away. However this year at the convention we will have someone else in charge of shipping the prizes. So that way it is much more expedient.

Rules should be up shortly for the contest. They are pretty much the same as last years rules (unofficially). I'm just waiting on word to officially post them. The tenative date for submissions is October 16th, 2015 by 11:59 EST.
