Someone on MAL put it quite simply:

"Someone pretended to be Urobuchi and f*cked up." XD

I don't think I enjoyed this anime as much as a lot of people did, possibly because I felt there was a lack of background on the main character for me to really believe him as a character, and actually liking him. It also felt weird to me that higher ups were taking in his strategies like he was some sort of veteran commander or something, but that's just me...I felt more drawn to Slaine, (despite the apparent hate for him for some reason?) as the main character @.@.

It kinda feels like an episode short, as the ending seems a bit rushed.
Spoiler :
I mean, why the hell didn't Saazbaum kill the princess when she was about to jump out of the ship? Or at least made to where they couldn't control where the ship was going to crash land? it feels like he really dropped the ball at the end, but hey at least he shot the princess and also made Slaine shoot Inaho, I guess. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the princess, Saazbaum, and Inaho somehow survived (though I really doubt Inaho did, or Saazbaum for that matter).

Also it was really annoying how after Slaine was released he just kinda conveniently stumbled upon the princess with hardly any effort and only for her to be shot in front of him. It's as if he was only there to witness it so he would have some sort of excuse to shoot Inaho. I dunno.
I think I would only check out the second season if they touch upon how/why the moon blew up and how the technology they found made them so advanced. At this point I don't really care who may or may not have survived.

And now it's over, second season was pretty amazing, although the ending felt a bit rushed and things felt like they were wrapped up a bit too nicely. I think they could have easily done another season if they had wanted but overall, excellent series. Not quite a code geass but very close.

I really enjoy series that have an intelligent and rational thinking main character, as opposed to idiots who just act on whims and emotions which seems to make up the majority of shonen heroes.

oh, and the soundtrack was AMAZING, really emphasizes the scenes well.
