I think the list, as it stands now, is final unless someone wants to stick another pin in my voodoo doll.

Honestly...this was a bad year in terms of playing the rules too loosely on both ends and there being a change of guard from the top down (new con chair and division lead for next year).
Miscommunication along the way didn't help.

I feel ya (my Drama Horror Video got DQ'd too)... Deuce said that it's beyond his control and the higher ups are "tightening up on the PG thing, apparently."

And I had to sit there while they picked the original list apart.
It was like seeing someone smash a car to pieces you spent months restoring and giving you their reason for doing so with every part.
It was a deflating experience.

Ah, that's unfortunate. It seems alot of cons in general today are taking even mildly suggestive content to a new extreme.

Will Katsucon be aiming for a PG rating for its AMV contest from now on? Some of the best AMVs I've ever seen are definitely not PG, and I assume the average audience member is old enough for a PG-13 rating

Their reasoning is, since Katsu is growing in size, there's an increased chance of younger kids getting in or "concerned parents" wandering in and seeing something "questionable."
And you know how those kinds of people are about complaining.
Add to that the increased awareness of "triggers."
And I know what you may be thinking..."People are just too sensitive and need to suck it up and let us have our art."
I wish it were that simple.
If someone goes off and has an attack because of something we presented (suicide, aggravated violence, etc) and they complain, the con is liable for whatever.
Bottom line: you become more noticeable and draw more attention the bigger you become.
So yeah...PG is gonna be the hard and fast rule.
Think of it as a challenge...because there are also a lot of great AMVs that are still PG.

A challenge... Or a reason to abstain. Don't like it? Vote with your feet and your wallet. It really is the only way to combat "think of the children" warghbl.

Is there anything the editors can do? I don't want to complain at you as you seem to have the same viewpoint as most editors, but can we contact the con chair or someone else to politely express our thoughts on it? I'm surprised people don't wave that liability to blame Katsucon with their badge sign-up. That or the ability to label certain panels 13+ might be a better system.
