Should I kept it as it is, then when in Vegas, crop and pan it to fit the size?

How will it look like shit?
I kept it as it is, lossless. Then edit it, crop/pan into the size I wanted. Since it is 1280x720, I will render at the end 848x480 I believe. I forgot the size. but it shouldn't look like shit when I edit it as lossless and then render it using UTVideo in vegas after all the editing.
