Re: Protect IP Act has Passed!
If it has passed the senate (can't find any sources that say it has yet) it still needs to go through the house and then be signed by the president.

Lol, what Pwolf has said is how the legislative system actually works. That torrent is already illegal under US law, so that would be why it has been taken down.

Also, what's your source that this thing passed? I'm not seeing anything about it passing anywhere, and it was only scheduled to go to vote today, with Senator Wyden planning to filibuster. I'm starting to be rather skeptical of this.

I think if it had there'd be a bit more posts about it already. I'm pretty sure the news would have picked up on it before a torrent site.MetamorphosisStudios wrote:some website while i was researching i forgot the website let me go thorugh my history and if i find it ill post it

Re: Protect IP Act has Passed!
You can be probably 99-100% sure that EFF's front page will have something on it immediately in the event that it passes. But like Pwolf said, that's still only the Senate. It still has to pass the House and the President still would have to sign it into law. And I think it's a fairly safe bet that even if all three of those things were to pass, you'd see all of those companies and groups that oppose it file a suit against it, meaning that it would start going through the appeals process (I'm not sure of the enforceability of a law undergoing judicial review, though).
