Using foreign lyrics creates a vocal flow for videos that you can't get with instrumental tracks and you're not constrained by lyric sync.

I've made DBZ videos to Japanese love songs, but the audience doesn't know! :awesome: :ying:

I would just echo what everyone else has said.
In fact, I have dont both, depending on the situation.

With this video, while I did follow the lyrics to some extent when making my video, the lyrics aren't the main point here. If someone wants to look up the lyrics on their own, maybe they will get a bit more out of the video, but it is still perfectly possible to enjoy this on its own, without knowing the lyrics at all.

But with this video, I chose to subtitle it because the lyrics are absolutely critical to the understanding of the video. My video follows every single line of the song, and without having those lyrics available, one of the primary elements of this amv would be lost.

This may sound weird coming from someone who likes to watch subtitled anime...and I hope I'm in the minority on this one, but I tend to tune out when AMVs in other languages come up at a contest (if I'm in attendance, online is different). If it's not subbed I feel like I'm missing out on some part of the video. On the flip side I also don't really like to have to read subtitles for AMVs because they are so fast, no matter how quickly you can read there is always some "element" you miss so you really don't get to experience it correctly until you watch it knowing the lyrics...
