You will have until December 24th, 2011 at 11:59 PM in order to get all entries in. This is plenty of time to make an AMV or a film and get it in.



We will only be accepting electronic submissions ONLY. These entries must be in .mpg, .mov, .wmv, or .avi formats only. WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE to send all videos with MPEG1 or MPEG2 (HDV format), 1280x720, with Good/Best quality. Acceptable frame rates are 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, and 30. Your aspect ratios can be 4:3 or 16:9, but 16:9 looks x100 better on our online area.


WE WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTING THREE COMPETING ENTRIES PER CONTESTANT. We will also only show your TWO BEST ENTRIES. Sorry for the trouble :3


DUE TO HIGH DEMAND, we will NOT have any restriction on content. I am expecting mostly Japanese, but you can use American (MLP:FiM entries I am totally expecting), Korean, Taiwanese, etc. This includes anime episodes/movies, manga shots/pictures, fanart of a character in anime/manga/live action (please get permission first!), Japanese Live Action/Drama episodes, video game FMV and clips, etc.

Do not include any title screens, logos, and credits before or after the AMV. If you need to place them in your AMV, then do so. I will be making a standard bumper for each entry.

We do not want ANY watermarks from companies such as Cartoon Network, NHK, etc. These can lead to liability issues. These will be disqualified if shown. Also, any English dub from an actual VA (unless you have gotten permission), will NOT be shown for liability reasons. Fandubs and voice overs must be your voice and your partner(s) listed.

Any video older than January 1st, 2010 is not eligible to enter. We will not accept ANY AMVs from UNCC JAMS 2010, Hoshicon 2011, or Ichibancon 2011.

All AMV and film entries must be a PG - 13 rating or below. Videos with too much blood and gore, too much cursing, too much nudity, and sex scenes will be disqualified. These will be evaluated thoroughly. If we feel like these break the rules, your video will be disqualified. This includes foreign songs.

All AMV and film entries must be your work and your work ONLY. Anonymous submissions will be disregarded.

All AMV entries must be 2 - 6 minutes long. The only exception is to the Trailer/Opening/Ending category and these videos must be 30 seconds to 3 minutes in length ONLY. All AMVs that exceed the time limit or are too short will be placed into the non - competing category.

All entries that involve film (you must have made about 80% of the content), Flash, or any other medium like this will be placed in a separate category. This is because unlike the nature of AMVs, people must use their own time to create their own content. These entries can be 30 seconds to 10 minutes in length max.

Non - competing entries may enter. These are entries that just would like to be shown. These include entries that are in the making, people who want their video shown, or people who haven't matched the time constrictions.

All videos will be judged online as well as in person! We will be making a form and a Youtube playlist for this process. Videos are going to be scored according to online votes, in - person votes, and Judge's scores. In the event of a tie, the Judge's scores will be the determining factor. If any video cannot be uploaded due to video reasons (video copyright, etc.), they will be disqualified from the online vote.

We highly suggest for any and all people who want a higher Judge's score to use clips that are in high quality and are without subs. Subs are HIGHLY distracting, so please use them whenever needed. This is the same with watermarks.

For all videos, we will have two main types of categories for each. We may limit these entries if we do not get enough people. All videos will be able to compete in their two categories. These are a genre based (action, comedy, drama, etc.) and a technical based (Best editing, judge's choice, best concept, etc.) types of awards. The winner of the AMV Contest will have Best of Show. All awards will be announced on the forums as soon as we get the entries in. In order for fairness, one video will get one award (ex. If someone wins Best Comedy and Best in Show, the Best in Show will win and the Best Comedy runner up with get it).

You do not have to be at the convention in order to WIN! Attending the convention will not boost your chances of winning. But wouldn't it be awesome to walk up on that stage to receive your prize in front of everyone?

You may make short abridged dubbing clips. These will be under the Comedy category.




Our viewing will either be Thursday or Friday in the afternoon/evening. Our awards will be on Saturday either in Cosplay Chess or (IF WE CAN GET THIS TO HAPPEN I'D BE SO HAPPY) during halftime during the Cosplay Contest!
