Don Bluth is far from my favorite. My personal opinion is that he's a hack.

Favorites? Mamoru Oishii and Rintaro.

You are joking right? Don Bluth kick disneys ass all over the place. (Not when Walt was alive, when he died and that fag Michal Isner or whatever his face is took over.)
When he left disney he set back their production of the fox and the hound by 6 months. An American Tail, the Land Before Tiem an the Secret of NIHM, are better then pretty much everything disney made in the last 30 years. And while the quality in the animation of disney has been getting crappier and crappier, the stuff that bluth does is getting better. And an american tail is proof enough that Bluth is at LEAST par with the stuff that Walt was doing.

First off... I dislike Don Bluth's animation style. While I did like Secret of NIMH (though they really should have been more loyal to the book... actually... I wish they just didn't have the lame ass magic stone) and did like his animation in Dragon's Lair. I agree that he's a bit of a hack, because he relies too much on over-emphasizing motion to the point of absurdity. His best stuff is when someone else is calling the directoral shots and he's just animating.

Second... isn't this topic about favorite ANIME movies?

My favorite Anime Movie is "Wings of Honneamise"
My favorite Anime Director is the guy who directed Bebop and Macross Plus
My favorite Anime Producer would be Studio Ghibli

Just my initial thoughts.

There are two kinds of people in this world:
Those who divide people into two kinds of groups
and those who don't.

what about the symolism in the stories? An american tail is a kids movie, there are no arguments there, but for those who know their history and know what was going on at the time can see how what was happening to the characters in the story was a representation of what was happening to the jews and their migration to america from russia. And while the suond tracks to most animated movies are being done by pop stars and rappers, he used James Horner to do the OST to an American Tail.

Otomo. He's the man.
And yes, disney HAS sucked for the last 30 years. For all their "imagineers" I have yet to see ONE original idea.

No, Anime means that to the Japanese. To us, Anime means Japanese Animation you stupid fuck.

My favorite director would have to be Shinichiro (SP?) Watanabe, and my favorite producer would be Gonzo and Pioneer LDC. or Sunrise. (Sunrise for Bebop, and Gonzo&Pioneer LDC for Hellsing)
