I haven't been to a con since 2006 but, from the ones I've gone to, AWA was by far the most AMV friendly...

AWA will always be "the big contest" for me. I make sure that not only do I submit to it every year, but also make and premiere a brand new AMV for it. 2 years ago, I premiered my "Tears are from the heart" there. Last year, I premiered my "Make a wish" AMV.

Nobody talk about the french Japan Expo AMV contest ?

Few numbers :

JE 2007: 114 contestants
JE 2008: 203 contestants
JE 2009: 186 contestants
JE 2010: 153 contestants

But the contest is not exclusive, so we got a lot of "recycled" videos from the past year (the video has to be not premiered before the 1st of July). That's why we got a lot of contestants I guess.

I talked about it in TWIAMVs. I didn't refer to it by name, I just referred to it as "That France contest" and compared it to how AKROSS and Big Contest are seen as Russian.

Internet contests != large convention contests. They are inherently different animals.

Speaking of big contests ... when are the VCAs starting? There where actually alot of "big" videos I loved this year (unlike the past few years).
