... was that Euphoria?godix wrote:We've already seen the anime, so without effects your video will be boring. Real editors use effects. The more the better. Like this one amv. It was all like woosh, zoom with effects. And I was all like whoa awesome. Then that guitar thingies popped up and went dun dun DUN dun then those box thingies went zooming by and twirling around and shit. Oh god, then the hexagons popped up and I was like 'I just got a stiffie'. Then there was the circle with those thingies going around and I blew my load. Seriously, it was go great I barely even noticed there was anime in the video. Without effects I would have just been like 'Saw it already *yawn*'.
And that's why you simply must have effects. Raw editing is for faggots and idiots who think we give a shit about the anime. Fuck the anime, we just wanna see pretty boxes flying around.

Re: Effects Vs. Raw;
Actually, your description is the way most people see it... The flashier it looks, the more attention the video tends to get.godix wrote:i dont like effects
I personally don't have an unhealthy emotional attachment to the anime, so I don't care if an editor "butchers" the show by using effects. The tube or Akross mentality might endorse them but I personally don't like effects for effects' sake. However, if they compliment a unique style or idea then yeah, I'd prefer an "effect" video over a raw one. I won't mimic others with a generic response but I don't care about effects for effects' sake... it shouldn't be any more attractive due to the fact that it has effects, but if the effects are executed well then they're probably helping as opposed to doing harm. Still, I might just rate a video higher if only for the effort factor.

Re: Effects Vs. Raw;
hm... ok i was most time one, who didnt use many effects. (and i am not good in it)
But iam not someone who dont like vids with effects. BUT i saw often that some people put randrom effects on randrom points of the song, and that sucks. For me its important that the effect fits, so i think that this part of the video cant be without it. Also i like simple videos, with a nice story and a good combination of song and scenes.
... ok i should say anything more XD did someone understand what i want to say??? lol

To paraphrase. Use effects when appropriate they are a tool like everything else, and like any tool they can be used the wrong way.

Re: Effects Vs. Raw;
I myself begin editing raw. I then add fade outs when appropriate, cross fade scenes together if they seem out of sync and I think they are the best choice. If I can't match the beat in some parts I may throw in a few effects to accent the video. I change with each video, it depends on the anime and music.

Depends. Basically all there is to it for me. I'm normally raw with a tint of light effects.

Re: Effects Vs. Raw;
I'm too lazy to do effects... however if the effects fit the video then I can enjoy them, but if they are just there to blind you with their blindeyness then I don't like them O.o

on the other hand, many of 'us' (meaning just the hardcore amv fans and video editors in general) HAVE seen all the effects as well! so that argument really has no validity at all.OtakuGray wrote:im not sure if you are trolling ...
