Hi everyone,

I am, new to this site and the subject of making movies of any sort, so if I make some basic mistakes here please accept my apologies in advance.

I am am a recording music artist and have, for a long time, wanted to put one (or more) of my songs to an Anime video. As I own the rights to my songs (Copyright and Production (C & P)) I am able to authorise their use for for an anime video project.

Would anyone be interested in helping me by making an Anime video with one of my songs as a sound track?

I like Anime as an art form very much and especially rate the sound track by Kenji Kawai from Ghost in the shell. I have wanted to have an anime video for many years but I lack the skill, knowledge and time to do this. I wish I could say my music was as good as Kenjo Kawai, but mine is very different being based in early 80's Minimal Electronic/Mininal Wave and New Wave genre's.

Obvious you might want to hear some of these song. I have two active projects currently and they are:

I am keeping my fingers crossed that one of you might be willing to help me but thanks for reading this anyway.

PS - There is no financial gain here just the personal pleasure of seeing one of my songs with an Anime theme. I am not sure of the legalities of using Anime footage but I am guessing it cannot be used in a potentially commercial context such as YouTube, Myspace or Facebook but please correct me if I am wrong on this.

Yeah, you're right on that note about the video content. We don't own any of the anime and certainly don't spend a great deal of time trying to get permission from the studios to use it. As such, any video using your music, even with your permission would still pretty much contain violations of copyright because of the video and mean it is not advisable to use it for any sort of promotion or commercial venture.

Thanks for that clarification. It is as I supected and understandable. It would have to be for the private viewing then although, I think I could probably get away with using it as a projected back drop to a song during a live performance. It would not be streamed or downloadable during a live performance so is less of an issue than putting on an internet site.

Unfortunately, you may get yourself in even more trouble that way, since that is specifically a public presentation of the copyrighted material. People who pursue copyright violations are harder on that than personal display.

In any case, it sounds like an interesting idea - but unfortunately you'd never be able to use the product for anything but personal pleasure.

Ah yes, of course. Thanks. Well it would still be interesting to see if anyone could come up with anything. I have been going through a few films this weekend trying to see if I could find one with elements that might work but I cannot see how any of it would fit. Films looked at include Ghoast in the shell (Film and series), AD Police and Bubble Gum Crisis, Appleseed, Blood- the last vampire and Wings of Honneamise. I am not helped by the fact that these are all VHS and not DVD.

Well you will probably wanna get dvds of them to start with. VHS is too much trouble to mess with, and its also very poor quality.

Very true. If anyone has listened to any of our songs and knows of a DVD title that might suit I would be grateful for suggestions.
