AMVs for money?

Post by Megamom » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:21 pm

Well... Today a friend offered to pay me 30,000 colones ($ 55) if I editing an AMV romantic for his girlfriend (her birthday)..., the truth... I do not accept the deal, I think one AMV is something that comes from my heart, I edit simply because I like AMVs, not for making money!

What do you think?

Someone has edited AMVs to make money?

That's something i think even pirates would draw the line at. That's where they become liars when they say "ONLY FOR NON-PROFIT USES!"

I'm not sure, but can't you get in serious trouble if you really did that?

I completely agree. Once you turn your hobby into a job for profit, it will slowly become less and less enjoyable. Also, if the guy really likes the girl, then he should try to make the AMV. It would mean absolutely nothing if he pays you to do it.

As long as you don't make thousands of dollars and announce it to the world, nobody will really care.

I would've taken the money. It's not like you're advertising that you take commissions or anything: A friend that knows about your hobby asked you to do something for their girlfriend. You could do it Pro Bono but if they insist on giving you compensation for your work then why not take it?

Example: Around my friends/family I know the most about computers so when someones computer has a problem, no matter how small, they come to me. Now, I love computers/working on computers and I always say they don't have to pay me whenever they ask about price but they always insist on giving me 5, 10, 20 dollars just for helping them out.

Well... I may have or have not accepted the money but most likely if it was offered, why not? I'm a poor high school student in need of cash. But I would edit the AMV for him as a favor regardless of the money. If he had asked me, well if a friend of mine did, I would have no problem helping him with that for free.

I would've at least edit him something, regardless of whether I took the money.

For a romance video gift... If the girl found out he paid you to do it, I think she'd be pissed...

Tell him you will take the 55$ to teach him how to make his own and maybe some nifty editing tricks and let him borrow some stuff :o .
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson
