Re: Memory Lane
So far, editing hasn't ruined any of the songs for me. I'm pretty surprised at how much I still enjoy them.

I used to think like that also but...after so many years away, it is nice to listen to the songs and see the videos in your head.insomniac wrote:this. as much as i may love a song before editing to it, after hearing every few seconds playback over and over again, it just bothers me to listen afterwards. and that's one of the reasons why i don't edit to my favorite songs and bands.MycathatesyouAMV wrote:Usually whenever I make an amv the process ruins the song for me afterwards lol.
Give it a few years and the nostalgia will be irresistible...

Re: Memory Lane
i only hate a song while i'm editing it, the minute i finish though and i can watch the whole thing uninterrupted i love it! (even if there are a lot of flaws that need fixing up)
I've thought about this though, not only songs i've done but songs that are in my favorite amvs. A lot of songs i hear first in amvs, and whether the video was good or bad, the song is forever attached to it.

Ya I find myself liking songs that I first heard in an amv I liked. Its like sometimes If I had just heard the song otherwise I wouldnt have liked it nearly as much.gotegenks wrote:i only hate a song while i'm editing it, the minute i finish though and i can watch the whole thing uninterrupted i love it! Re: Memory Lane
I had a feeling some editors would dislike a few of the songs they've used on past amvs because it varies from person to person. Especially if it was an amv they regetted making afterwards, had problems with while editing or just spent too much time on and the song became mundane to the ears. It's never happened to me but I hate it for the ones it has happened to, kinda depressing to me if it's a song you really dug
For all those willing to give it a shot it's very enlightning, makes ya like your amvs and the animes and songs used in them more. I may start burning cds with songs from my favorite amvs from other editors eventually. Be a whole stash of metal, rock, krock, j-pop, j-rock, hiphop, r&b, rap, techno, instrumentals, and oldies.

Sometimes I feel like remaking all my old videos after listening to the songs in the car all day. My new side job is requiring me to drive out a lot more often and I'm getting really inspired...

Driving is where I get most of my ideas come to me before they reach the editing program.Castor Troy wrote:Sometimes I feel like remaking all my old videos after listening to the songs in the car all day. I've always had most of the songs I've used in past AMVs in a CDs in the car but I guess I've never had them on the one album to listen to consecutively. Might be worth a try next time I compile another CD.

I make amvs I want to see, with sources I like, rarely do I get burnt out on a song.

EXACTLY! or even if i hear a song i hate, but then someone uses it brilliantly in a video, it feels like it sounds totally different.MycathatesyouAMV wrote:

Hell, even just the prospect of maybe making a video has changed my music tastes. Half the songs i listen to i imagine videos in my head, which makes them entertaining on a whole new level. Probably the only way i can enjoy rap (coincidentally it's one of my favorite genres now though)
