Just so everyone knows, Gorillaz got a new album coming out soon called Plastic Beach. This is the first single:

But that's not the amazing part. Word around the net is that there's actually going to be a MOVIE with the Gorillaz characters in it coming out, and this album is actually just the soundtrack or something. I've overheard some people saying that if you actually put the Gorillaz music videos together you can form a plot about what's going on. The movie would likely be a continuation of what's going on in the music videos.
If you go onto the Gorillaz youtube channel you can see short clips that sort of tell a half-assed story. Not exactly sure where it's all going, but it looks like it's based around their new crib the "plastic beach", which may be the floating windmill Noodle was on when it got shot down ... their website is totally revamped too:

You can listen to the whole album on the site if you search around a bit. I don't know why, but I'm calling "Epic" on whatever's going to happen next ...

Ok, I've been trying to figure this out and it's getting REALLY confusing. 'Turns out there WAS a movie (doc.) made about Gorillaz a few years back:

I can't find a RECENT interview with the creators, so I can't officially confirm anything ... I know they were talking about plans for an actual movie, not just a documentary. Help?

Turns out all the characters have really complicated backgrounds that sort of fit together to tell the bands story ... no mention of a movie tho ... THIS IS TOO MUCH WORK!!

listening to it on last.fm... a lot of songs feature guest hip-hop artists. but most of the time it doesn't work well (though sweepstakes is actually kinda good). the songs without guest artists are pretty fun though.

Holly shitcakes the CD is wicked cool. It still sounds like Gorillaz but it's like evolved Gorillaz. I got the special edition with the DVD and I can get extra stuff online. Me like.

EDIT: Rhinestone Eyes is my fav song so far ... it's pretty much addictive. If you're gonna buy it, buy the version with the DVD. It's only like $4 more and it's got tons of behind the scenes footage that really makes you realize how many people it took to get this thing out into the shelves.

Hm ... i'm starting to understand why people are saying Gorillaz have subliminal messages in their songs. If you listen to a few songs you start going "... what the fuck ...". Ya, I've been pretty much listening to the CD the whole week non-stop ... I think i have a problem
