No probem Machine, It just wouldn't be a Machine "Mindwarp" video without being so twisted... Your AWA Pro entry actually scared me!

Talked about twisted horror

ahhh!! quotes of quotes of quotes, freaky... I always felt that the important thing about making a video was just to express your feelings about that particular show using a song, so I think there really has to be some kind of flow to it. It's just sort of a conceptual continuity in the video, not really a story but more of a broad statement.

That's only one way, but there are a lot of other reasons for making an AMV. Feelings are one, or to make a statement, just to have fun with it, an artistic expression or even a technical challenge to overcome.

I myself have made them for all the above reasons. I think that feelings are one ingrediant that is important, but must be mixed with others to create something good or interesting

When people say they want to see "plot" in AMVs, does it mean they want the video to actually show the progression of a storyline from beginning to end(methinks this would significantly cut down the possibilities for AMVs if they had to be so limited)? Or are people simply asking that the video be about something and not just be a bunch of random, synched clips?
Speaking for myself,

I find that when I talk about "plot" in an AMV, it is a message that I am trying to get across with the combination of music and the images I choose.

I think that for my works, the AMVs "Outsider", "Flash Before Your Eyes" and "Nanami's Lament" (as well as "An Injured Friendship" and "A Love Song" which aren't up yet) are examples of what I mean.

There are two kinds of people in this world:
Those who divide people into two kinds of groups
and those who don't.

"plot" is tricky to define in an amv...

Some "action" amvs have plot. ^_^

But I don't think Plot makes a great amv. It's the meaning and execution that does.

[do you like it for what it was meant to be?]

I 'dislike' most drama/story vids btw, I have to have seen the anime first to figure out what's going on 90% of the time.

"Strength lies in action. Let the weak react to me..." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter from Magic: the Gathering
"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
"I AM REBORN!" - Dark Schneider Bastard!! OAV

That's sort of what I mean. Everything has to have some kind of meaning even if that meaning is just "hey, look at all this crazy crap! Ain't it hillarious?" If there's no messsage why would it exist?
