Woohoo!! Man, this one really snuck up on me. Should be fun! Looks like they are doing the same thing as last year with the schedule and whatnot. Was it a little earlier on Saturday last year? I just remember being snug in my bed when it started...and ended

It's the same time slot this year as it was last year, but we're stalling as long as possible before starting in hopes that more than 3 people will wake up for it this year, and that the hotel staff will show up by then so that we don't have to hand people their own chair on the way in.

How come we can't have it the other way around? (First showing in Main on Friday, second showing in AMV room on Saturday) Another musical guest taking over Friday night?

This is how it's been at AnimeNEXT for a good while now. Ever since they started doing Friday night concerts in Main Events, we haven't been able to get the room for an evening AMV contest screening -- it usually happens sometime in the afternoon. And then, for some reason, the Saturday showing is always first thing in the morning, at 9 or 9:30 -- in other words, perfectly positioned to ensure that the people who can only come for Saturday will not be able to get to see the contest at all!

And I keep saying every year that they could get a MUCH better crowd at the Saturday AMV contest showing if they'd just give it a better time slot. We filled the room in 2004 when it was held at more like 11 or noon, and there's no reason we couldn't have that again. I'm still waiting for some higher-up to let it happen.
