Starting an AMV studio

Post by fullmetalcan » Wed Nov 11, 2009 10:54 am

Okay, so I used to be in a studio until it went under about a year ago. Rather than looking around to join a new one, I decided to make one of my own.

So I was wondering if people had any suggestions on how to gain members/publicity. Of course, there's the obvious entering at cons, but what else?

I'd like to gear my studio to exhibit the editor's skills so as many people can look at them as possible. Also, I'd want to help people in the community with tutorials/1-on-1 help sessions/etc.

It's far from being finished, but here's the test layout of the site (not a real link) http://resident-edit.webs.com/testt.htm

I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to post this or if I'm being too vague, but I'm mostly just looking for constructive criticism/general opinions on the idea of starting a studio

make friends...
have friends join studio...
....
profit..?

Seriously though, that's pretty much how I've seen most studios work. Beyond that... make a shout out for people to join and see what happens?

Family and friends.... I am the only active member of my study (planetside... though I practically forced the members of my studio to make AMVs  ) from experience I say... "members of your study must share your ideals"... because otherwise they lose interest very fast!

Studios sometimes just happen. People don't necessarily plan to be in a studio, they just end up in one.

My studio is so elitist, I'm the only member.

Well, there's lots of people on u-tube who simply put up a recruitment video, and choose the best editors from everyone who auditioned. I myself have auditioned for a few, but never got accepted. I guess I need to become a better editor first XD
