November and Lip Sync AMV Contest

Post by siragin » Mon Nov 02, 2009 3:40 pm

This will be the forth of many AMV contest here at J Squared Graphics. And this contest has a theme to it, "November and Lip Sync AMV Contest". Based off the current Best Video, there will be a special category that would be dedicated to best lip sync video. Your goal in this contest is to use any type of anime you wish to create a 2min to 7min video. You will be able to start submitting your videos beginning November 8, 2009 through November 23, 2009. If you need an extention on the deadline you can ask, but it will depend on how much time you will need. All video submissions will be available for viewing starting November 24. Voting will start on November 24 through November 28, 2009. The overall video voting will be November 29 and 30, and awards will be given December 1, 2009. There will be five categories for you to enter.

Action, Drama, Comedy, Lip Sync, Action/Adventure

I whole-heartedly disapprove of your 2 minute minimum entry for the lip sync category.

and why is that? What would be a good time limit to suggest?

I'd think a minute thirty seconds would be a good minimum.

In the lip sync category, the entire 2 minutes doesn't have to be lip sync, that's just how long the video should be. The rules say that a lip sync video should have at least 10 seconds of actual lip sync in the video. Does anyone think this should be extended? To what time and why?

I'd say at most a minute minimum, because it's like you're saying you can't have a valid full-length amv shorter than 2 minutes which is very much not the case.
Figures though, that someone would come up with a special lipsync category to their contest and my new all-lipsync video wouldn't qualify for it for some reason. I didn't want to enter your contest anyway. I'll make my own amv contest. With blackjack and hookers. ... In fact, forget the amv contest and the blackjack.

I never said that a video can't be done in less than two minutes. I know very well that great videos can be just a few seconds long. But for a category for lip sync, the shorter the video, the more chance that you would be so focused on making the video lip sync that the entire video will suck. The two minutes is to give you time to still make a point in your video.

Haunter103:

Sorry to here that you won't be entering the contest. I wish you would reconsider though. But if you don't believe that your video could win I completely understand. As a matter of fact. If you enter the contest with your video as is I would wave the time limit for you, only if it is any good (not desent, but just award winning quality. Being more than just a video with random lip sync). If you do that and can beat the current best overall video which is a lip sync video, I would host your video on the site for the rest of the year, wether you win or lose this month's contest. What do you say?

This sounds very much like a challenge, and far be it from me to back down from a challenge, especially when I don't have to do any additional work since I just relased the vid. Posting a link here however would be tasteless so I'll PM you.

I know that was just joke. I hope you guys didn't think I was upset or anything. It was just sarcasm, Sorry  .But if you want to go up for the challenge then go right ahead. First you have to pass the screening process and the time limit will be waved if its good. Then your video will be put up against the current best overall video in a three point system. Most watched video, community vote, and judges vote. If you win your video will be intered in the current contest. Even if you don't win the contest your video will remain on the site the rest of the year.
