I think that the most important part is the feeling that the watcher experiences whenever he or she watches it. In order to achieve good feeling, you need to perfect other parts like timings, transitions, concepts and the use of appropriate clips and good video quality.

For me, it's video quality and proper syncing, I've deleted videos I've downloaded because the quality was so bad I couldn't SEE anything. as long as it goes with the music I'm happy.

OMG YES. I HATE when people totally distort the realities of the anime/game they use, and then expect somebody to read their forty line explanation of how it all makes sense. I usually just have stories because I don't want people to think I had no concept when I was making my video, but it's not necessary for anyone to read it because most likely they'll figure it out just by watching the video.
