Why tying "video quality" to frame size and rate is dumb.

I actually agree with your posts for the most part. If the video isn't effecting your viewing experience then I don't really even see a reason to even rate it down but that's just me.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

Yeah, I think this thread has run its course.
Amusing aside: If you search the archives, you may come across a thread from 2005 discussing things that people hated about videos; I think it was titled "I hate this" or something. Can't remember. Anyway, I posted several long rants about -- you guessed it -- video quality in that thread. Now, I don't know exactly what I wrote -- I don't have the patience to dig the actual thread up* -- but I bet what I wrote is totally inconsistent with what I wrote in this thread.
* The nice thing about pissing people off is that you can sometimes get those people to do work for you.

Re: Why tying "video quality" to frame size and rate is dumb.
I am currently making 640x480 vid. I am using the best sources I could get, and try to make it look the best as I can (honestly, I'd have to vector about 2000 frames approx., if I wanted to improve it "radically", which just isn't something I see myself doing for a single vid).
And I know that from "certain" people I won't get better OP for quality than (say) 8? Maybe even 7, hey, it's 640 x 480, nobody uses that anymore, hahaha!
It just makes me kinda sad. I feel like going and give 9 to that 320 x 240 vid that I have seen recently. It might be old, when it's on fullscreen it looks BAD, but when I play it in 320 x 240 window it looks splendid.
Hell, I might even give it a ten.
