There are 10000000 fans all over the world.

Thats the most stupid question I've heard in my life.

And with 7 billion overall, that's a really thin dispersal.

Well, 10,000,000 divides into 7,000,000,000 700 times. So that actually would mean there would be up to a couple thousand people in any major city center.

Lonely? What??? Only if you live in an anime deprived town on the east coast, 12 of my friends (12, count em 12) are into anime, though I'm one of 3 otakus in the whole school, (ya need 5 people to start a club). Back in VIctoria BC where I used to live, half the population is into anime and we had an anime club with 20 members. We held a convention every year (albeit a small one).

He might mean that Genshiken is a small university anime club but they still have more than 3 members at any given time, right? :P

Hmmm visit a few anime conventions and you will see anime fans are not invisible.

Don't measure anime based on a few funny images. They're just funny images.
Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.

I think many fans dont show it and many people are to scared to try it because it is for no good reason associated with being a nerd. I have a friend that watches my anime DVDs all the time, i pop it in, we watch, discuss it, and thats about it, he says he enjoys it but he dares not tell anyone else he does =| and he would never go to an anime convention. I think people are scared of being singled out as a nerd so many people that like it dont express it, so you can never really get a solid number on how many people like anime if you ask me.
