Actually, KDE stands for 'K Desktop Environment'. It's not a recursive acronym.

And slightly OT: KDE has been refusing to load on my computer for about the last two weeks, and KMahjongg and Shisen-Sho both crash if I try to go to the Configuration options dialog, even though I can play them normally if I don't do that - at least until the scores come up.

Huh really?

I always used gnome, but I thought it was recursive.

I believe you though.

I normally use Gnome these days too, although a couple years ago my default was actually Fluxbox. I have all three installed, though.

My difficulty with KDE and Qt started after I was screwing around trying to get SCIM (and then when that failed miserably, UIM - which I knew worked so much better) set up properly so I could type kana.

I'm trying, but it isn't easy. M@D creators have some serious incognito fetish. They don't like to make themselves aware outside of their own groups. Like I said, aside from a coworker who only noticed me messing around with FCP on my mac mini during the summer office days at City Hall (where teachers go when school is closed but not yet on vacation), I haven't even met any M@D creators, let alone people we would consider to be AMV editors based on style.

Have you tried using the "search for members" function and searching by country with the "creators only" box checked? That locates a lot of them on this site at least.
