I've been doing a lot of opinions lately, and I plan to try to do a lot more. And as I'm doing this, I want to make sure I'm being helpful to the people about whose videos I opine. (Sorry, I wanted to try using that word.)
And then, I noticed that there's a list called the "Most Useful" and "Most Useless". And I thought to myself "Gee, I'd sure like to be Useful! And I certainly don't want to be useless. So, I would like to know... What is the criteria for being judged useful?
The very large numbers in the Most Useful make me think that it's something like "average number of words per opinion". But I wanted to check. Since I find short opinions can be just as useful, if they're done right, I wanted to make sure word count is what's used, before I go off assuming I need to just put in lots of words in order to be helpful to the people I'm reviewing.
Short & Sweet: How can I be a "most useful" reviewer?

Looking at the very bottom of the list you should see this sentence:
So it Is based on your average number words per opinion as long as you have given 5 or more.Useful score based on average number of words per opinion and given 5 or more opinions.

Here's a tip. Write the following sentance: 'Word count is a moronic way of measuring usefulness'. Copy and paste it into the opinion fields until you fill them up (yes, there is a character limit although it's astoundingly high). Do that a couple times and you too will be on the most useful lists.
In case you're wondering, no I'm not joking. Last time I checked half of the most useful list was on it for doing this type of thing to each other as jokes. IIRC someone left me their term paper as an op once.

Actually on second thought, don't do that. The most useful system is absurdly easy to game if someone is inclined to but seeing someone who actually takes ops seriously is a pleasant change and I certainly shouldn't discourage anyone from actually using ops as they were meant to be used. Keep doing what you're doing and don't worry about the useful/useless lists.

--My apologies, I guess I must be tired. I did actually see that, but I thought it meant some avg # of words were required to be considered, just like 5 opinions were required.Krisqo wrote:Looking at the very bottom of the list you should see this sentence:So it Is based on your average number words per opinion as long as you have given 5 or more.Useful score based on average number of words per opinion and given 5 or more opinions.
That's why I'd assumed I was misunderstanding it. But I will do just as you suggest. I'll review helpfully, not usefully.godix wrote:Here's a tip. Write the following sentance: 'Word count is a moronic way of measuring usefulness'. .
