"Insurgentes" released

Post by Otohiko » Thu Dec 04, 2008 12:04 pm

Since this has been all the talk of the town lately -

FYI, Steven Wilson's "Insurgentes" has been released for pre-order (will ship Feb 24th), but if you pre-order it you'll be able to download the album NOW and listen to it while waiting for the printed CD to arrive.

I feel much better now that I have paid for my Insurgentes :amv: However I'm disappointed that this edition doesn't come with the bonus tracks of the special one that's sold out.

I totally encourage everyone to get it, though. I've listened to it a lot at this point and it's easily album of the year and even album of the past two years for me

I should also note that "Burning Shed", organized chiefly by Wilson, is a very respectable independent label/music store that I'd encourage everyone to support.

I can you feel you man =(

I actually looked it up on ebay, but 60-100 bucks is a liiiittle too much.

I would order the album right away, but I'm a bit short of money, so I suppose I'll order it after christmas :uhoh:

Yeah, I might actually cave in at some point, but damn. It's just that some of my favorite tracks are on that bonus disc :(

I just found out today something I totally suspected but didn't confirm - Tony Levin does bass on several tracks in Insurgentes, including Collecting Space. That totally explains why they're so awesome :awesome:

Also FYI - from Steve's myspace blog:
I thought that I’d be doing well to sell 4,000 from one single point of mail order in these recessionary times. Guess I was wrong, and it seems that now people are prepared to pay more than 10 times my original price to get a copy. That’s extreme, so I have to now seriously consider going back on my word of maintaining the announced limitation, to try to take the market away from the eBayers. So what do you think? I welcome your thoughts on this. It makes very little difference to me personally, but it pisses me off that fans who clearly want to own this beautiful edition didn’t get a copy because people who obviously never wanted it in the first place (or somehow managed to get multiple copies) snapped them up, and are now selling them at crazy prices. And I guess I’m the only one that can fix that with a second edition.
If you want to see it happen, please pester Steve through myspace:

(to make it clear, the above post refers to a possibility of the sold-out Special Edition with the book + extra CD being put to print again. Bah lack of edit button, etc.)

I just bought it, but am also disappointed that it doesn't come with the bonus songs...

Ah, well, I still bought it so I'm supporting the artist, which is all that matters.

P.S. GO BUY THE ALBUM Image

Best album of 2008. I'm going to wait and see if the special edition sees a second breath before I buy it.
