I usually edit my videos during breaks from school (e.g. christmas break, spring break). During that time, I'll edit in spurts (maybe two hours a day) until I feel tired satisfied, or if I'm distracted enough to stop.
But if I really feel inspired (during school), I'll edit during my downtime from studying.
For me, projects shouldn't take more than 20 hours or less than 5 hours to complete. I'm not against totally dropping a project and starting it up later. By then, it's a lot like watching someone else's AMV, so you can pick out what's wrong with it.

Yep that's pretty much how it works for me. The video i just finished took the life outta me. As it got closer to completion, i couldn't sleep even if i wanted to. 65 hours is my record for not sleeping, accomplished during those last 3 days.gaunai wrote:I'm weird... I'll think about making an amv for months... and never put anything into Vegas...
Then I'll finally sit down.. and put it together in a week or so.. neglecting pretty much everything else including sleep...
Then life returns to normal.
But of course, I don't intend on making them very often. Each of my videos really have to mean something to me as i am lazy and wouldn't really be able to commit myself to music/animes that have influenced me.
And I have a semi *cough* life toooo =P

It's either this or play DotA.
And I usually opt to play DotA.
Yeah, that's where editing AMVs stands on my ladder of things to do.

It really just depends for me. I have so much 'free' time during a day and I spend it doing whatever I feel like at the time. It may be editing, it may be playing video games, watching TV, doing homework, or socializing with friends, or spending 'quality time' with the fiancee, or working on my book. Though in a month I'll probably spend most of my free time working on a book, since that's the point of November.
I have videos I've been working on here and there since '05, videos I've started and put on the back burner because I don't feel like working on them at the moment, videos I'll pump out in a few hours because I'm in the mood, and then IC's I pump out in a few hours because well, that's all the time I get to edit on them.
For me, my biggest obstacle with editing is actually ripping the footage. Rather then watching the DVD rip I sit down and watch a movie or TV, which I get into, and then I don't feel like working on the video after the source is ripped, because I got into the movie.
