Dual screen improves the workflow a lot. You can keep track of more things in more space at the same time... really does help fastening the editing... and not only that, actually.

I use dual screens (4:3 monitors right now) but I find it helps as I can make on one my preview screen large and have my timetime and menus on the other one. It's expeically helpfull in AE when I doing a lot of masking

sorry but something about that mouse just screams 'noob'... trackballs are SO much better for editing than evil evil mice. Some ppl find it takes some effort to get used to but it can save your arm

also I'd just imagine it's a HELL of alot easier with the ULTRA high res monitors and dual screens giving 2x the real estate and so on. Other than the fact that newer mice have lazors and TONS of buttons (if your into that sort of thing) you REALLY should give a trackball an EXTENDED trial. Give it a week to a month. You may not like gaming with it, but editing with one is a BREEZE. Get a Kensington. I just wish they made a new trackball in the last decade with lazors... but when editing, lower dpi is actually better as human movements aren't exact (and neither are moving around big vobs on a timeline lol). scroll wheels aren't big on trackballs either, so it's best to get a keyboard with one of those on them.

Pay some attention to your mouse and keyboard, your finger muscles will thank you for it.

btw if you like TONS of buttons (and mainstreme os') get the mx revolution. It's not a gaming mouse, but the thumbwheel on it is a thing of BEAUTY
