That's cool with me, as long as you're not linking to a folder that contains like your entire music collection. :nose:

I enjoyed that, rather anthemic (if that's a word for something that is a bit of an anthem), and I appreciate the sentiment about the lyrics. Musically, I thought the main highlight of this was the production values - the bass crunches like the cap'n and the piano creeping in right at the climax hit the right notes. You can tell these guys are professionals and are standing on the shoulders of professionals. Definitely one of those songs that'd go over well with a crowd of sweaty young people at a live concert (assuming the band don't botch it). I'm not entirely a fan of the vocal style, but it fits in this case.

I can't say anything great about the compositional values here - really, it's a "song" in the most typical form where lyrics are the center and catchiness value rules all. They could've certainly done a bit more creative, but then again, it's Weezer. They found a formula and they keep distilling it - no shame in that, but no standing ovation from me either.

7/10 (6 baseline and an extra point for production)

The video however is lol + old memes and therefore a solid 9.5/10 :o

Reviewing this one

You can't go wrong with king crimson, It's very solid and simple music, but at the same time Very entertaining. This song has good drums and Entertaining (though sometimes repetitive) guitar. It seems to get really repetitive and drag on about half way through, as it is musical and they don't do much to change it up to keep it interesting, but still a decent song.
6.8/10

Live thread, live! We need moar review, stat :amv:
You know , I always wondered why Ska sounds so much like the music in old Soviet comedies. This is a pretty good example of that, which is not a bad thing. Rapidfire, coarse vocals and a brass player (is it one or two of them there?) that covers a lot of ground - even if the theme repeats over and over. Things start taking off on a dramatic note towards the end, but never quite fly away, just come back to the main theme. Very typical structure for this type of music from what I've seen, played relatively tightly (checked a live video on myspace and they deliver it well on stage too).

One main thought: edit this down to about half the original length, including the building-towards-climax part, and you could do a pretty hilarious AMV to it - with footage at about 300% speed on average :P

7/10

Song: Keko
Artist: Kimmo Pohjonen
Genre: Experimental Folk (better described as "drunk Finnish shamanic-type dude with accordion and a symphonic orchestra")

yah, Most ska sounds pretty repetitive, but I luff it :3. As for the horn section, it usually consists of at least 1 trumpet, 1 trombone, and usually a sax, plus a couple others.

I'll review yours to:

Damnit, all your suggestions are somewhat on the long side XD.

I really like this though, the sound is very catchy, and actually pretty creative, pretty impressive that it's only one guy, just with a loop machine, but his vocals sound really great...Even though it is just like chanting and whooping, still sounds good and supports the rest of the music. This is also pretty much instrumental, and he does a good job of not letting it get repetitive and boring by changing it up frequently. It got especially awesome towards the end where it got all frantic and it seemed like he was possessed or some shit. I'd say a 8/10.

I'm giving out some more ska/punk, because this is my favorite band :3. It sounds quite a bit different then the other band I gave out

Song: Point/Counterpoint
Band: Streetlight Manifesto
Genre: Ska Punk / Third wave ska

Yea, I just don't want this to be a two-person thread. This should, in theory, be pretty good fun, and I'm always open to these things, seeing how for the past 5 years or so my music listening range expanded about 10 times, at least 60% of which was due to people throwing me interesting linkage :o

And I've nothing against ska, as I say. I just find it amusing and, admittedly, it's a bit outside my range (just like, for instance, I'm yet to get into any 'pure' forms of punk or rap, though I enjoy derivatives and even combinations of both).

Ska Punk is my favorite genre, that's the only reason, I'm also into quite a bit of just punk, but not rap... It's fine, maybe people just don't want to bother listening to some random music that we post? :O
