AWA Short Attention Span Theater - 3 days remaining

Post by kholaras » Wed Aug 20, 2008 1:39 pm

This Friday, August 22, 2008, marks the close of submissions for AWA's SAST.
Returning after a hiatus this year is the Short Attention Span Theater Contest (SAST). The idea? A contest of absurdly short anime music videos judged by audience ballot and screened first thing at AWA's AMV awards ceremony! Taking inspiration from the hilarious and popular AMV Hell multi-editor collaborations, we’re petitioning super-short videos from AMVers, whether they be segments of longer videos, brief novelty songs, previews, advertisements, or segments of dialogue from other features, send them along! We’ll assemble them into a continuous-contest format and screen them during the awards ceremony in main. Judging will be conducted via audience vote on supplied ballots, enabling us to announce the winner by the end of the AMV awards screening.
Detailed contest info can be found at the link at the top, but the short version is:
-Maximum length of 30 seconds
-Multiple entries per person
-Fairgame on source, as long as it's daylight playable

What's that last bit mean? AWA's Video Art Track contests are open to a wide range of video source, including but not limited to anime, domestic animation, video game footage, and even live action sources. Got an idea that didn't fit in another compilation because it wasn't exclusively anime related? Here's your chance.

Submission process
1. If you haven't already, go to the submission site at http://www.awa-vat.org and register for an account.
2. Select Contests from the menu to the left, then SAST 2008.
3. Click the "Submit a video.." link at the bottom and enter the information

Due to some ongoing issues from last week we are unable to provide ftp accounts to upload your video. There are plenty of alternatives however. If you have webspace that you can deposit your file at, you can do so and send me a link. There are also a number of file sending services, Megaupload, Sendfile, YouSendIt, etc but these have a variety of limitations on their free services (but a SAST vid probably isn't going to be that big anyway). We also have a YouSendIt dropbox capable of accepting files up to 2gb in size if you don't want to use the above options or your file is too big. Please email me at vattechnical@gmail.com if you need access to this drop box or have any additional questions.

Quick question, what'sthe restrictions on audio vulgarity?

The audio I've got uses the word fuck once within it's context. I COULD try to bleep it out but I dunno.

You should probably contact MCWagner about judgment calls like that.

Is that correct?
