Database/Upload Questions!

Hey there!
After getting sick and tired of 'a certain site' deleting every amv worth watching, I joined here instead

Buut, after reading all the FAQ's and forum threads I could find, I still don't quite get a few things

So if someone could help me out and explain a few things like the difference between putting a video onto the database versus uploading a video onto the site, and the whole FTP deal, I would be very grateful!

The database just says the video exists and here's what anime/song it used. Uploading it via FTP means people can watch it. It's like the difference between IMDB and a movie theater.
