Premiere effect help

Post by Tarranon » Tue Apr 29, 2008 1:02 am

I am basically a complete newb when it comes to media editing, and I wanted to get a bit of a feel for video editing, so I thought an AMV would be a good place to dip into it since it combines something I enjoy with the frustration of learning your way around a new software.

I've been fooling around with the workshop video tutorials, but I have something specific I want to do, and am not sure where to start looking for it, mostly because I'm not entirely sure what you would technically call what I'm shooting for. That's where living breathing humans come in :D

Because, once again, my lexicon is severely limited, I'll just be illustrating what I want to do. Poorly. In paint.

Any input you can provide would be greeaaaatly appreciated. I really feel good about the project I'm working on as a whole, so you can think of it as a bit of an investment in the AMV community :P

for the first Idea try to go to >transform > Crop. Arrange you Sequences how you like it to be and done :P

the second Idea requires a little more effort. It can be done if Premiere but if you want it rly good looking I'd suggest using After Effects.

Bubbles = After Effects
and
Circles = Premiere

if I've misunderstood something or you have further question plz ask !

I obtained after-effects, and was fooling around with it, but have yet to really figure out how to go about what I want to do. I don't want the entire circle to be fish eyed, rather just the edges. But I can't find an effect that simply distorts the edgest, and I have yet to find a tool that would allow me to convert the framing into a circle. At least, without going at it with brute force.

I think one of the preset shapes for masking in ae is a circle, but there is also a plug-in that makes a glass bubble you can see it in the begining of this video:

is that what you're after?

I don't think it's sapphire. I have the demo now and it doesn't appear to have anything like what you demonstrated or I'm thinking of.

It's getting to be frustrating. Some of these effects are so unlikely that I can hardly believe I'm manipulating images like I am, and yet this thing that seems like it should be so simple eludes me :v

I got it. It apparently wasn't an effect I was looking for so much as layer and mask manipulation, which I was completely overlooking. So, yes. I feel like a bit of a dunce. But I guess that's part of learning.

IN.ANY.CASE.

Thanks for your help, guys. I'll be sure to post the finished product when it's done.
