To quote yahtzee (paraphrasing for AMVs)
"Making an AMV and hoping someone else notices you is kind of like being stranded on a deserted island and writing letters in bottles and throwing them into a sea of letters in bottles in the hopes that someone will actually read yours and bring rescue."
The AMV community has grown substantially and on the advent of the tube the number of videos got flooded even more. Though granted the or is more firendly to searching vids there are still a ridiculously large number of vids and getting yours to stand out is tough. Typically you need to accomplish one of two things to get people to notice your work
1. Start pushing your name to friends and other people, don't be too pushy or no one would go; this is why we have the Video Announcments forum and the Opinion Exchange. It's a good way to start and if people like your stuff they'll hopefully pass it on.
2. Make something people remember and get it out in the larger community. This is tougher because this one relies on contents and conventions, if you make a video that makes it into a convention or the finals of one then people are more likely to check into your other work if theyr eally liked it. My profile sucked till I finally made Shattered Dreams and Purpose of Persocoms, then the hits got a bit more regular as people will start looking at your other work if they've seen one they like before.
