SLANTS AMV CONTEST!

Do you like creating AMV's? Do you like money? Now you can have both, as well as a little bit of fame in The Slants' newest contest!

Participants may submit an AMV comprised of The Slants' music for an opportunity to have their video included on an upcoming DVD documentary on the band. Videos may be comprised of footage from anime, live-action movies, cartoons, television shows, video games, or any combination thereof.

Three lucky winners will be selected by the band members and one fan favorite video will be included on the upcoming release. In addition to having their video on the documentary, the grand prize will be $150 cash and each of the winners will receive an autographed copy of the DVD.

To hear samples of The Slants' music, visit www.myspace.com/theslants

I take it the band is assuming all legal responsibility for the videos that win going on this DVD, right?

Yeah, it's a cool contest and all but how are they doing this? With subjects that broad for source footage that's a lot of licenses they will have to acquire for Lord only knows what. You couldn't do it before-hand since it's so opena nd after the fact means judging would take over a year to try to get the licenses to all the videos and after juding runs the risk of a no coming back from a studio and having to reselect.

We'd be looking into each video as it comes in and the studio that is producing the DVD is goign to be handling all of the legal matter. I'm only a novice when it comes to copyright law, publishing rights, etc. and most of my experiences pertain to music and photography and music only so I'll leave that to the pro's and just be looking forward to see the AMV/OMV creations!
