School days <= good but useless ending for what your looking for

Rizelmine <= good but unreleased in the US
Dears <= this one is pretty good for what your looking for, especially the ending.

Gravitation <= if your into that kind of thing anyways
Fruits Basket <= very good
Steel Angel Kurumi
Solty Rei <= More of a father sister relationship that was broke up but still very heartwarming.

Those are a few I can think of off the top of my head but they are good starts

Btw lookin at your lyrics... I think Solty Rei would be an excellent choice cause of the scenes the father is drinking alone in his apartment. He really fits the parts of the lyrics that give off the depressed mood.

Maybe Saikano. Or Love Hina. Or, as much as I hate to say it, InuYasha. (If you don't feel like going through the entire huge series, I think that one may be able to be done with just the OVA's if the pairing is Kagome/InuYasha. Particularly the 1st one. Any other pairing, you would probably need the series.
