"GitS2: Innocence" Music Video DVD
Bandai have released a DVD featuring a bunch of AMVs using Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence and music from the GitS soundtrack.
Has anyone seen it ? How are the videos ?
Now the big question: will this cause anime distributors to view the org in a less favorable light, now that AMVs are a possible source of revenue, and giving 1000's of them away for free could undermine their efforts to realise that revenue ?

so if People had more ready access to free AMVs I would suddenly want to stop making them.. the amvs that were already distributed for free?
or do you think because other people would be making money off of them It would somehow deture me in making them for fun.. and having a better chance (since it would obviously be more popular) of actually making money off of it myself?
or do you think that it would be make the anime distributors more inclined to go after AMV makers in legal ways.. even though they'd have nothing more to yell at us about.. seeing as how we'd be possible future employes?

Ok, 2 things:
1. We did it first, we do it best. Those money grubbing assholes need to take a chill pill and take a back seat to this ride. Come to think of it, didn't somebody win a contest and get their videos put on a DVD once ...?
2. Every time they do 'music videos'. They suck. Anyone seen the ones with Onegai Twins DVD ....? Yeah. The only thing that even comes close to a good AMV are a few Intros, and even then they usually lack a lot.

Thanks for for info. It's a shame that they wasted an opportunity to put together something special or exciting for GitS.
Nerdstrudel, my point was that anime fans who know about the org are LESS likely to buy the DVD because:
a) they know what a well-edited AMV looks like, and from what I've heard, the DVD is not well-edited
b) it's psychologically unpleasant to pay for a product or service that you usually get for free
so you could argue that the org is hurting Bandai's bottom line. This is unlikely to ever be a problem because I can't see that separately sold AMV DVDs will ever be a major source of revenue for any company. With GitS, they are always trying to wring the last few cents out of their investment (e.g. the SAC commentary book&DVD set, or the huge SSS special edition)

Usualy they CAN´T make good trailers. I saw only ONE good commercial anime trailer in my life and it´s this one:

(german GitS II trailer)
Too bad it was never released expect on the german DVDs xD

Anime Works has included "image songs" on a couple of their boxed sets/DVDs.
The ones on Green Green seem fairly okay, even use a few effects in some of them but they are still fairly simple.
The ones on Sukisyo should have their creators shot... in the face... they were horrid to sit through ;_; and made me cry at the pain of watching them.
