a-m-v.org - more inclusive?

Post by SrgtWilco » Sat Nov 03, 2007 4:04 pm

So apparently youtube is about remove all AMVs on its site. This applies to both anime and non-anime vids, which leaves me with this thought: Should the org allow non-anime music videos? I say this because youtube has been the only well-known, centralized site for the aggregation of these types of videos, and has never been that good a home to begin with (the quarter-second synch disruption comes to mind). While I'd certainly admit that the Anime MV community has produced the best videos, there are some perfectly good Non-Anime MVs out there, and a fair share of crap on parts of this site already. So, what do you think? Do we accept the NAMV refugees, or turn them away?

turn them away.

Reason: musicvideos.org sounds too gay.

What about Imeem, Google Video, Stage 6, and who knows what else?

This site has been removing non-animé videos ever since its inception. What makes you think that will stop now?

And where are you seeing this news about all fan videos being removed anyway?

I totally agree with rapture. It wouldnt be the same around here if we had nonanime videos. Besides, people have posted them in the announcement threads before, You just dont upload them on servers here cause they only allow anime or live action anime shows. Upload them on your own servers and announce them if you care that much.

Well, they can't anymore. According to The Announcement Rules, you can only announce videos that are entered in the catalog. According to the rules of entering a new video, non-animé videos cannot be entered in the catalog. The conclusion follows immediately. Obey the rules.

That's how the system is planning to control all of us!

Well, alot of people are gonna learn that the hard way then since there are no alerts or anything for when rules change. I know people don't look at the announcements forums and rules every day. Maybe they should include alerts for when rules change? lol this topic sure went in a new direction but might be worth it. Since I'm guessing some of the youtube members are gonna be heading back this way after that mess falls through.

They could always start up their own site to host non-anime music videos. Then once a year the two sites could have a competition ... oh, wait, isn't that already happening at some convention somewhere?
