Recommend an AMV: I'm totally Lost!

Post by in_dim_light » Thu Oct 18, 2007 1:51 pm

Hi,

I'm a new user to the forum but with a great passion to animes and animation for very long time. I enjoy very much watching the music videos in this site where the point of fiction and fantasy is to let our imaginations run wild, yet keep it grounded in reality with believable characters and emotional attachments. I believe that elements of love, life and death are themes that transcend the realm of fiction and are applicable in real life, so if one cannot associate with such emotions in fantasy, their imagination is severely limited.

Now that I registered, I'm finding it very difficult to recommend a video I stumbled upon (originally in YouTube), and where I stand, I find it very beautiful, and well timed.

The video can be watched on the creator's blog over here.

I have gone through your Rules for Video Recommendations forum and in my opinion, the video fits well in the Videos using non-English music or the Sentimental Videos threads, however, I really got lost on how to include a link to the video info page, since the video doesn't have one. I went through most of the replies and it seems that every recommended video has a VidID (a link to animemusicvideo.org/video/nnnnn).

I went through your guides on how to enter new videosand it says that I must be the one who created the video myself and I should not enter videos that were created by someone else.

Now, how can I recommend OTHER PEOPLE'S videos and at the same time create a link to the video info page?

Thanking you very much for your time and efforts.

you have to convince him to list the video here I suppose??

but I know at least two of those sources are NOT anime (I donno about the other two...) so at the same time I don't know if it would qualify as an AMV according to this site's definitions.

Yea, it's a moot point - none of those are anime or video games that qualify as close enough to be anime.

Thank you JaddziaDax & BasharOfTheAges for your comments that the music video 'm refering to is not an anime. I went through the process of entering new videos and it does indicate that Lineage, World of Wracraft, God of War and Halo as not "anime" (crossed out).

But, then, if I'm to ask ... What makes Lineage to be listed as "not anime" while anime-style video game cut scenes (such as Final Fantasy) are considered "anime"? I'm not comparing the two games, however, what makes Lineage different?
Entering a New Video wrote:2. The video is an anime music video. For the purposes of this site, an anime music video is defined as a music video where the majority of the footage comes from anime.
I'm not sure if it is mentioned somewhere, but, can someone please explain the site's difinition of "anime"?

Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anime#Definition

Now back to my original question ...
If I'm not the creator of the video, and the footage used is listed in your site as "anime"...
How can I recommend OTHER PEOPLE'S videos and at the same time create a link to the video info page?
Thanking you in advance.

the difference in the games is more than likely the difference in WHO produced the games... the makers of Final Fantasy are from a Japanese company... World of Warcraft and such are made by American companies.

the definition of "Anime" (for the org's purpose) can be found on two pages:
FAQ Page wrote:‘Anime’ here is essentially defined as Japanese animation, including things like cutscenes from Final Fantasy games and so on. Non-Japanese animation and non-animated source are not allowed although we are lenient with anime-inspired original animated or drawn creations that the members have made.
Enter New Video wrote:For the purposes of this site, an anime music video is defined as a music video where the majority of the footage comes from anime. For the purposes of this site, anime-style video game cut scenes (such as Final Fantasy) are considered "anime".
and to answer your question again: if its a video that is allowed on this site then get them to post it here.

In short : In recommendation forum, you just put a link to a video profile on this site. You cannot post any links to the videos that aren't hosted here.

And about the vid,I'm sure that it won't be allowed. I played Lineage for 2 years, and I played WoW a bit,but I know that none of those sources are really not fitting. Those games are not suitable for AMV sources, since they're MMORPGs (Lineage,WoW),and Halo is an shooting game.

At least 50% of the vid must contain Anime or Japanese video games.

the type of game doesnt matter, where its from on the other hand does...

and as long as you are using cut scenes and not footage of you playing the game you shouldnt have any problems.. (you can use game footage as long as the majority of it is cut scenes)
